The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania is an institution that develops and implements the Lithuanian state financial policy in order to ensure macroeconomic stability and economic development of the country. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for Lithuania’s fiscal policy, the use of state and European Union funds, and financial sector activities. It is one of the most important ministries of the Republic of Lithuania, and it’s smooth operations are especially important for the whole country: strategic projects for the introduction of the euro currency are carried out, the collection of taxes through the State Tax Inspectorate is ensured, state-level information is recorded in the Lithuanian Department of Statistics and managed by the State Treasury. On August 1, 2013, the Ministry of Finance received a high international evaluation: The Global Forum established by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development announced that Lithuania meets the highest international standards for transparency and exchange of information for tax purposes.
