National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) is the institution providing the services of the compulsory health insurance fund. NHIF manages the register of persons insured by compulsory health insurance, purchases centrally and supplies the medical institutions with expensive medicines and medical aids, pays for the health care services provided to patients under contract with the territorial patient’s funds, pays for pharmacies – for reimbursement medicines provided to patients, and performs other functions assigned by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania.
