The automated rescue request system eCall is designed to ensure that in case of a car accident an automated rescue request is sent to the 112 number. Starting from 2018 March 31, all new cars sold in the EU territory must be equipped with the eCall technology, which is automatically activated in case of an accident. During the project, the Information Center information system was supplemented with hardware and software tools for receiving, decoding and displaying rescue request information in the Centre’s eCall information system, including accident time, exact location of the vehicle and direction of movement (this is particularly important for motorways and tunnels). The eCall system can also be activated manually by pressing the button on the car, for example, by the person who saw the accident. eCall tools were integrated into a functioning 112 information system as an additional unified IS module, thus not burdening the IS environment of 112 operators.
